University of Oregon graduate and now Microsoft Office senior editor

Hi everyone. I am an Oregon native and previously a business reporter and editor who covered Microsoft in the early-to-mid 1990s, when it could do no wrong. I met Bill Gates as a reporter, and even met Stephen Spielberg on a Microsoft assignment.
 
Background


In the latter ‘90s, Microsoft began hiring journalists (for MSN, MSNBC, etc.), and journalists began realizing how cool the online medium was --- so I left Washington CEO magazine and came here in 1997 to what is now MSN Money. In the nearly 10 years since, I’ve worked for MicroNews, Microsoft bCentral, Microsoft Small Business Center, and most recently, Microsoft.com, where I worked on the Midsize Business Center and the Ms.com/Business page and newsletter. I joined Microsoft Office Live Small Business in January 2007.

In my spare time, I spend time with my wife and two daughters (20 and 16), follow my beloved Oregon Ducks (I used to be a sportswriter who covered the Huskies), play the drums a little, and train for marathons (I’ve done 17 so far). I am excited about the opportunities and possibilities at Microsoft Office and Office Live and look forward to working with very smart and talented people.
